Common House MouseThis species originated in Asia but have spread throughout the world: now including Africa, Americas and Europe. They are nocturnal and eat practically everything including insects. House mice build tunnel: ranging from a series of short tunnels to a complex network with several entryways and exits.

Brown Rat (Rattus Norvegicus)
Brown RatsThe Brown Rat generally nests outdoors in burrows dug under the floors of houses, sheds and other buildings. Often habituating in rubbish heaps and in refuse tips, the Brown Rat will aim to stay in its burrow during the day and then at night scour for food. They tend to eat meat, fish, vegetables and anything which humans would consume. Scientists suggest that they eat over 30g of food per day and drink over 20 ml of water.

Black Rats (Rattus Rattus)
Black RatsThis form of rat has been transported worldwide – traveling in ships. Other names include the Ship Rat, Asian Black Rat, Roof Rat and House Rat. The species originated in tropical Asia and spread through East Africa in Roman Times. In the sixth century the Rattus Rattus traveled to Europe and is now spread worldwide. The Black Rat tends to be confined to warmer areas; whilst the Brown Rats (Rattus norvegicus) prefer cooler regions.
