The Brown Rat generally nests outdoors in burrows dug under the floors of houses, sheds and other buildings. Often habituating in rubbish heaps and in refuse tips, the Brown Rat will aim to stay in its burrow during the day and then at night scour for food. They tend to eat meat, fish, vegetables and anything which humans would consume. Scientists suggest that they eat over 30g of food per day and drink over 20 ml of water. |
